'I cried for 2 hours': Kyle Busch fan describes epic freak-out over chance encounter
Kyle Busch's biggest fan calmed down long enough to describe how crazy it was to catch him in traffic after his victory at Martinsville on Sunday.
"I knew I was freaking out but I didn't know my face looked like that," Darienne Breazeale told Alan Cavanna of "NASCAR Race Hub" on Wednesday from her home near Wilmington, N.C.
"Right when he was signing my hat, I don't know if you could tell, but I started crying, and I cried for two hours after that; I was just so happy," she added.
Breazeale said she waited at Victory Lane for two and a half hours after the race in hopes of getting a glimpse of Busch, but all she got was a free hat tossed her way.
However, leaving so late turned out to be a stroke of luck, as Busch spotted her in her M&M's Racing hat while sitting in traffic and pulled up next to her.
"I was like, who is this idiot over here beepin' the horn?" Breazeale said.
It turned out to be as memorable a weekend for her as for Busch, who completed the first weekend sweep ever at Martinsville.
"Nobody's ever gotten two clocks," Breazeale said, referring to the trophy given to winners.
