Greg Biffle: 'More work to do' after top-five finish at the Magic Mile
Greg Biffle recorded his first top-five of the season after finishing fifth in Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
But, the result didn't come easy for Biffle and the No. 16 Roush Fenway Racing Ford team.
"Everybody did a great job on the NESN Ford Fusion. We just worked hard at it," said Biffle. "We got a lap down on that long run in the middle of the race, but we were able to come back. Brian (Pattie, crew chief) made the right calls and we got it up there."
It was also the second consecutive race that Biffle finished in the top 10 after a sixth-place result at Kentucky Speedway.
But, the senior Roush Fenway Racing driver knows there is still plenty to work on in order to build on the recent success.
"I certainly am with the top five, but we have a little more work to do to get our car faster," said Biffle when asked if he was pleased with the result overall. "We will keep digging and we have some work to do on it. We have a lot of momentum right now."
As a whole, Roush drivers have been making slow but steady improvements throughout the season.
Stenhouse Jr. had a solid 10th-place finish on Sunday, while Trevor Bayne remains in the 16th in the points standings, only two points to the good over rookie Ryan Blaney in his efforts to make the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
Biffle is 22nd in the points standings, 52 points behind 16th-place Bayne, while Stenhouse Jr. currently sits in 20th.
But in order to avoid a repeat of last season where RFR failed to make the Chase, Biffle, Stenhouse Jr. and Bayne are in desperate need of wins in next seven races to lock themselves in before the cutoff.
