Greg Biffle finds trouble early after hitting Turn 1 wall hard

Roush Fenway Racing’s Greg Biffle, who came into the Brickyard 400 riding a streak of three consecutive top-10 finishes, found trouble early on.

Biffle’s Ford went hard into the outside wall in Turn 1 on Lap 53, bringing out just the second caution flag of the race.

The impact was caused by a tire failure on the right-front of the No. 16 Roush Fenway Racing Ford

“We blew a right-front tire and went straight into the fence,” said Biffle. “We were either real loose or real tight, and we just couldn’t get the balance right. We’ve just got to get them to turn a little better.”

It was bad blow for Biffle, who came into the race 22nd in points and outside the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series grid.

And early this week, Biffle’s father, Jack Biffle, passed away, making it an extremely tough week.
