Garage chatter: Put the focus back on racing
Hopefully, fans are still talking about the tantalizing finish at Daytona on Saturday and not the off-track nonsense that has overshadowed racing of late.
NASCAR chairman Brian France met with the media on Friday. Instead of focusing on what's most important to the future of the sport — the competition — the sanctioning body is being weighed down by issues that do absolutely nothing to enhance the product. In the cases of Jeremy Mayfield and Bryan Berry, these headlines are more damaging to the sport's integrity than any faux pas that occurs on the track.
