Front Row Motorsports expands to three teams, adding Cole Whitt
Front Row Motorsports announced Friday morning it would expand to three full-time teams for the upcoming 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, adding sophomore driver Cole Whitt to the organization's lineup. The 23-year-old joins David Ragan and David Gilliland at the organization.
Whitt will pilot the No. 35 Ford, with sponsorship from Speed Stick for 10 races, including the season-opening Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 22.
Randy Cox will join Whitt at Front Row Motorsports and serve as the crew chief on the No. 35 Ford. The pair worked together during Whitt's rookie campaign in 2014.
"I'm really excited and grateful for the opportunity to go racing with Front Row Motorsports and continue my relationship with Speed Stick," said Whitt. "Bob Jenkins (Front Row Motorsports owner) is a smart businessman and has grown his team the right way over the years, and I'm really looking forward to being a part of that growth. The 2014 season was great for me as a driver. We had some important personal victories and some areas where we'll want to improve."
Whitt's relationship with Speed Stick continues in 2015, as the company will sponsor the No. 35 Ford in races at Daytona International Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway.
"Cole Whitt continues to embody the traits that we champion at Speed Stick," said Bill Van de Graaf, Vice President and General Manager, U.S. Personal Care, Colgate-Palmolive. "In his first year, he impressed fans, teammates and adversaries by continuously stepping up in high-pressure situations. The Speed Stick brand is excited to be at Cole's side as he reaches for new heights."
Team owner Bob Jenkins is looking forward to the future of Front Row Motorsports with the addition of Whitt.
"This is an exciting time for Front Row Motorsports," said Jenkins, who has fielded a two-car organization since 2010. "Adding Cole Whitt to our program, along with the support of the Speed Stick team, is another big step in our growth as a young team. We're going to have a diverse mix of experience with our drivers, which, I think, is going to be a big benefit for everyone."
