Fans weigh in with mixed response on Round 1 of the Chase
We asked and you, the fans, responded with your thoughts on the opening round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
The bulk of responses were that the Chase didn't quite start off with a bang the way NASCAR and the fans were hoping for.
The absence of post-race drama, big crashes, and tight battles for wins likely played into the results.
Fortunately for fans and NASCAR, the Round of 12 has been the most exciting the past few seasons with post-race scuffles at Charlotte and big wrecks at Talladega.
If there are a couple close finishes then Round 2 should provide everything that was lacking in the opening round.
The majority of fans said the opening round landed somewhere in the middle of the road with 26 percent giving a 'fair' rating to the opening round.
The next highest rating was 'poor' at 23 percent and 'good' at 21 percent.
Nearly 20 percent of fans rated the opening round as 'terrible', meaning that they didn't enjoy any of the action they saw at Chicagoland, New Hampshire, or Dover.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, 13 percent of fans thought the racing was 'excellent'. We're betting a healthy portion of those are Martin Truex Jr. and Kevin Harvick fans, who saw their drivers win and automatically qualify for Round 2.
The Round of 12 gets started on Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway, where Joey Logano is the defending champion of the Bank of America 500.
