Fans weigh in: Rodney Childers best crew chief remaining in the Chase

BY foxsports • October 5, 2016

We asked and you, the fans, advanced with a decisive response on who the best crew chief in NASCAR's Chase for the Sprint Cup was.

Rodney Childers and the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet team took the top spot in a somewhat convincing fashion with 40 percent of the vote.

Childers has won 14 races, most coming since joining SHR and Kevin Harvick in 2014, along with the Sprint Cup championship in that first season.

Winning six Sprint Cup championships wasn't enough for Chad Knaus to take the top spot, which is either a bit of revisionist history or fans giving more credit to the driver of the No. 48 over the crew chief.

Knaus finished in second with 25 percent of the vote.

After Childers and Knaus was crew chief of the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota, Cole Pearn with 16 percent.

No other crew chief posted more than five percent of the vote, meaning that the reast of the field behind these top three drivers are pretty even on the pit box, according to the fans.

A second championship for Harvick would surely strengthen the case for the No. 4 team's pit box leader.
