Danica Patrick goes for a wild ride that ends her 500

Danica Patrick, driver of the No. 10 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet, took a wild and unpleasant ride in the closing laps of the Daytona 500.

Patrick ran as high as 10th during the race, but got penalized after her crew went over the wall too fast on a green-flag pit stop on Lap 157. By Lap 169, Patrick was a lap down.

Then on Lap 184, Patrick and Greg Biffle had contact on the backstretch, which sent Patrick on a long slide through the grass, with her car getting airborne in the process.

"That pit-road penalty really put us in a bad spot at the end of the race," said Patrick, who finished 35th. "I didn't realize Greg (Biffle) was below me and I tried going low and we made contact. It's a disappointing way to end the day, but overall, I'm happy with the way my Nature's Bakery team performed throughout Speedweeks."
