Danica ends rocky week with solid Indy 500 finish

Danica Patrick's rocky week at the Brickyard ended with cheers instead of boos.

The popular IndyCar driver shook off a poor qualifying run and a somewhat poor-handling car to finish fifth in Sunday's Indy 500, her second consecutive top-five finish at the 2.5-mile oval.

Patrick's steady performance keyed a resurgent run by Andretti Autosport on Sunday, as the team shook off a tough qualifying weekend to put three cars in the top 11.

Marco Andretti was right behind Patrick in sixth. Tony Kanaan, who started at the back of the 33-car field, worked all the way up to second finishing 11th.

Ryan Hunter-Reay spent most of the day inside the top 10 before a late collision with Mike Conway dropped him to 18th.

Racing veteran John Andretti, whose car was co-owned by Andretti, finished 30th.
