Coca-Cola 600 Practice 2 results from Charlotte Motor Speedway
Stewart-Haas Racing's Kurt Busch paced Saturday morning's 55-minute practice session for the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The driver of the No. 41 Chevrolet posted a fast lap of 192.644 mph and ran a total of 36 laps.
Busch will start Sunday's race from the 14th spot and improved upon his 19th-place run in Thursday's opening practice session.
Pole-sitter Matt Kenseth was second in the session, as the Joe Gibbs Racing driver continues to show speed. The No. 20 Toyota posted the second-fastest lap at 191.680 mph.
Defending Coca-Cola 600 winner Jimmie Johnson was fourth on the speed charts at the end of the session with a lap at 190.813 mph. The seven-time Charlotte winner also had the 10 best-consecutive lap average.
David Ragan had the fourth-fastest time of the session, but also spun off Turn 4 with just 10 minutes left in practice. Despite the slide through the grass, Ragan's No. 55 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota did not sustain damage.
Team Penske's Brad Keselowski rounded out the top five with a lap of 190.496 mph.
All of the fastest times were set early in the session when the track first opened.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. ran the most laps of the session, 49, and was 11th on the speed charts.
JTG Daugherty Racing's AJ Allmendinger struggled throughout Saturday morning's session with the handling of his No. 47 Chevrolet. Allmendinger nearly hit the wall multiple times and could only muster the 33rd-fastest speed.
One more practice session remains for the Sprint Cup Series ahead of Sunday's Coca-Cola 600.
