Brown gets No. 1 qualifying position
Antron Brown raced to the No. 1 qualifying position in Top Fuel at the Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway on Saturday.
Brown recorded the second-quickest pass in a Top Fuel dragster in NHRA history when he had a 3.766 at 325.30 mph during Saturday's final qualifying efforts.
The pass will earn him the new national E.T. record and a 20-point bonus as long as no one betters the run during Sunday's eliminations.
Johnny Gray (Funny Car), Jason Line (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also took advantage of the fast conditions at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Event, as they raced to the No. 1 qualifying positions in their respective categories.
Track E.T. records fell in the three other categories as Gray led the way in Funny Car with his track E.T. record-setting run of 4.010 at 318.62 in his Dodge Charger, to earn his first No. 1 of the season.
In Pro Stock, championship point leader Jason Line secured his 24th career No. 1, and seventh of the season, when he set the track E.T. record with a 6.513 at 211.36 during Saturday's qualifying.
Rookie of the year candidate, Arana Jr., also set the track E.T. record in Pro Stock Motorcycle with his 6.824 at 195.48 run, which secured him his fourth No. 1 of the season.
