Beatriz returns from broken wrist

Published Apr. 15, 2011 3:48 p.m. ET

IndyCar rookie Ana Beatriz is back behind the wheel at Long Beach, less than a month after breaking her right wrist.

Beatriz broke her right scaphoid bone in the season opener at St. Petersburg on March 27 after colliding with Graham Rahal early in the race. She kept driving, finishing 14th, but had surgery later in the week and missed the race at Alabama.

Beatriz was cleared by IndyCar's medical team on Monday and will wear a similar brace as Dreyer & Reinbold Racing teammate Justin Wilson, who broke his left wrist in Florida.

She had the slowest time in Friday's first practice session, but is expected to drive in Sunday's race around the streets of downtown Long Beach.
