Arrest warrant issued for man charged in JGR spotter accident

Published May. 4, 2016 10:31 a.m. ET

According to multiple news reports, an arrest warrant has been issued in Randolph County, North Carolina, for Michael Dale Kellison, the man charged in a crash last December that seriously injured Joe Gibbs Racing spotter Chris Osborne and his family.

Kellison was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, but did not show up, prompting the arrest warrant.

Last Dec. 17 near Trinity, North Carolina, Kellison's car crossed the centerline and hit Osborne's car.

Osborne, spotter for Matt Kenseth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Daniel Suarez in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, suffered a compound fracture of the right leg and multiple other injuries. He missed the first five races of the season, returning at Martinsville Speedway.

Osborne's wife, Melissa, and son, Austin, also received serious injuries in the accident.

After the incident, Kellison was charged with careless and reckless driving, driving while impaired, and having an open container in his vehicle.
