Annett recovering from surgery

Published Mar. 1, 2013 12:00 a.m. ET

NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Michael Annett has been released from a hospital in Charlotte, N.C., following surgery.

Annett is resting at his home, according to a Richard Petty Motorsports team release.

Annett underwent surgery earlier this week to repair a fractured and dislocated sternum suffered during a crash during the Feb. 23 race at Daytona International Speedway.

According to the release, "The news is encouraging and is ahead of schedule. Doctors expect a two-month recovery time, but Annett has responded quickly to all treatment so far and is hopeful to return sooner."
