Watch as Corvette breaks land-speed record for street-legal EV car

Electric vehicles may not be renown for their power just yet, but they’re getting there.

Need proof? Look no further than what took place at Space Florida’s Shuttle Landing Facility in Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on July 28.

With 660 ponies helping it down the straight, Genovation Cars’ Genovation Extreme Electric car (GXE) reset the land-speed record for a street legal all-electric vehicle at 205.6 mph. The same group had previously held the record at 186.6 mph.

The Corvette’s record run was certified by the International Mile Racing Association (IMRA) and was also captured on video.
