Watch: American driver Menezes OK after airborne crash at Spa

BY Samuel Reiman • June 20, 2015

Gustavo Menezes went airborne during the FIA Formula 3 European Series race 2 at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit on Saturday.

Menezes was attempting a pass on Brandon Maisano down the Kemmel Straight when the two made contact, sending the American upside-down into the outside guardrail. Menezes’ car slid back across the racetrack before coming to a stop. The track marshals were able to turn the car back up the right way and Menezes walked away OK, despite the roll hoop of his car having collapsed.

The series has came under a lot of criticism in past weeks, with Race 3 at Monza being abandoned as the head official was unimpressed with the quality of the driving.
