Ty Dillon, Ricciardo keep No. 3 alive with wins in Indy, Hungary
Last weeekend we saw the No. 3 car of Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo win the Hungarian GP grabbing his second win of the season. And yes, when I say the No. 3, I mean the same number and font that Dale Earnhardt made famous in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
You see, Ricciardo was a big fan of Earnhardt growing up in his home country of Australia.
Reason for #3 is it was my first ever number in karting and I was also a fan of Dale Earnhardt. pic.twitter.com/Z9zBntEewl

Although he doesn't use the same font on the car, he does represent his childhood hero on the back of his helmet.

I knew I liked this guy!!
Yet Ricciardo wasn't the only driver of the No. 3 to make it to victory lane last weekend as, on Saturday, we saw Ty Dillon, the grandson of Richard Childress (the man that owns that famous No. 3) win at the Brickyard in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

Coincidentally, both times Daniel Ricciardo has won a Formula 1 race, his final pass was made with 3 laps left to go.
And, if that wasn't enough, when Ricciardo scored his first career victory, Dale Earnhardt Jr. pulled off a victory in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series race just hours later in Pocono.
