Ride onboard John McGuinness during record-breaking lap at Isle of Man

BY foxsports • June 13, 2015

On Friday, John McGuinness shaved three seconds off of Bruce Anstey’s track record, lapping the Snaefell Mountain Course on the Isle of Man in 17:03.567.

Although 17 minutes sounds like a long time, with the circuit being 37.73 miles in length, his average lap speed clocked in at an astonishing 132.701 mph.

McGuiness set the record-breaking lap on his 2015 Honda CBR1000RRSP on lap two of the four-lap Senior TT, which had initially been scheduled for six laps but was stopped after lap two of the initial race for an incident involving Jamie Hamilton. Hamilton is in a critical condition and has been transferred to a hospital in the UK.

McGuiness went on to win by 14 seconds over James Hillier for his 23rd Isle of Man TT win.
