Porsche sends touching message to Audi following LMP1 withdrawal
When Porsche entered the LMP1 class in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2014, it undoubtedly caused a stir, enough for sister company Audi to release a video depicting an Audi R18 doing doughnuts in front of Porsche's headquarters in Stuttgart.
Fast forward three years, following Audi's shock withdrawal from LMP1 competition, and Porsche has responded with its own video, in a touching message that displays the spirit within the motorsports community.
Porsche recently locked up its second consecutive World Championship, with drivers Neel Jani, Marc Lieb and Romain Dumas, after a season-long fight that saw Audi end its 18-year run in prototype racing with a 1-2 finish in last month's season-ending Six Hours of Bahrain.
Next year's WEC season will see a two-manufacturer battle between Porsche and Toyota, with Audi's absence undoubtedly set to be felt in the globe-trotting championship.
