Rossi was able to stay on his Yamaha and finish in third place behind Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo. Lorenzo now sits just seven points behind Rossi heading into the season finale.

The grid penalty comes as a result of three "penalty points" being added to Rossi’s license.
Rossi’s team is appealing the decision.
