Monster Energy Supercross gears up for first LIVE appearance on FOX
The penultimate race of the 2015 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season airs live on FOX on Saturday, April 25 at 3 p.m. ET, marking the first time the Feld Motor Sports-promoted and produced race from MetLife Stadium airs live on the broadcast network.
“A lot of racing series have explored opportunities to present their events in and around the highly coveted New York City market without much success,” said Patrick Crakes, FOX Sports SVP of Programming, Research and Content Strategy. “Monster Energy Supercross, on the other hand, rolls into its second year at MetLife Stadium, opening with Media Day at iconic Grand Central Terminal, before racing Saturday afternoon at the Meadowlands. It provides us a great opportunity to highlight a sports property we are very bullish on to the largest audience possible.”
“This is a milestone for Monster Energy Supercross,” adds Ken Hudgens, COO, Feld Motor Sports, “and to take place in the world’s number-one media market in the country will showcase the brand and its elite field of riders on a platform such as FOX’s broadcast network illustrates the rising popularity of the sport.”
Justin Kutcher hosts FOX Sports coverage, with veteran supercross broadcaster Ralph Sheheen providing play-by-play, Motorcycle Hall of Fame riders Jeff Emig and Ricky Carmichael offering insight and analysis and Jenny Taft reporting from the pits. Coverage from Media Day at Grand Central Terminal airs on FOX Sports 1’s nightly program, AMERICA’S PREGAME, with post-race highlights on FOX SPORTS LIVE.
The FOX Sports/Feld Motor Sports broadcast arsenal offers a robust lineup of cameras covering the fast-moving, high-flying motorcycle series, including 14 manned cameras, counting two high-speed X-MO cameras, two robotic cameras, a jib, two point-of-view cameras and the award-winning Spidercam.
Anchoring a full day of motor sports on FOX, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race from Richmond airs Saturday night at 6 p.m. ET.
