Since its inception, the FIA Formula E series has remained adamant that it wants to be on the leading edge – not just of technology, but social media as well.

Over a month has passed since the last race in Long Beach and, since that time, the world has seen the dawn of a new app – Periscope – that allows users to live-stream video from their mobile device to anyone else following them on the Periscope app or – and this is the biggie – Twitter.

The live video-streaming app Meerkat has also debuted within the past month or so, but experienced issues with Twitter and instead turned to Facebook.

As the FIA Formula E team haulers head down to the south of France to the Monaco principality, social-media employees have been busy taking to Twitter attempting to get their fans’ votes for their drivers to give them FanBoost in the Monaco ePrix.

But during the weekend they will have a new app to play with – Periscope – and the Trulli Formula E Team and ABT Formula E Team are seemingly already getting geared up to live-stream activity from behind the scenes at Saturday’s race:

The Monaco ePrix will air LIVE on FOX Sports 1 at 10 a.m. ET Saturday.
