Lewis Hamilton has claimed his ninth pole position of the 2015 season ahead of Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix.

Hamilton was able to top his teammate and championship rival Nico Rosberg, who was struggling with the handling on his Mercedes.

Ferrari was the best of the rest, with Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen qualifying in third and fifth positions, respectively. Daniel Ricciardo was sandwiched between the two scarlet cars in fourth. Valtteri Bottas (sixth) outqualified his teammate Felipe Massa (eighth), with Bottas running a new front wing on his Williams car while Massa, behind Bottas in the points, was running the old one.

A red flag flew in the second session as Fernando Alonso's McLaren coasted to a halt at the entry of pit road. With the help of the marshals, Alonso pushed his car back into the garage while waving to the crowd:

Unfortunately it was to no avail and Fernando Alonso will start from 15th, with teammate Jenson Button starting 16th after ERS deployment issues put him out in Q1.

The two Saubers and two Manor Marussias will start from the ninth and 10th rows, respectively.
