Dungey wins ninth straight AMA race
Ryan Dungey raced to his ninth straight AMA Pro Motocross victory Saturday, sweeping the 450 Class motos at Steel City Raceway.
The Red Bull KTM rider from Belle Plaine, Minn., wrapped up his second season title two weeks ago.
"It was nice to come out of here with a win today, this place has been good to me in the past," Dungey said. "There were some good line choices. The second moto got a little slippery when that rain came, but I put in good laps and limited the mistakes."
MotoConcepts Suzuki's Mike Alessi, from Victorville, Calif., was second overall. He finished third in the first moto and second in the third.
In the 250 Class, GEICO Honda's Eli Tomac, from Cortez, Colo., race to his fourth overall victory, sweeping the motos. Tomac moved into second place in the season standings, 14 points behind Blake Baggett.
"It was the best day I could ask for," Tomac said. "I came and did what I needed to do, and now I'm within a moto of the points lead."
Baggett, the Kawasaki rider from Grand Terrace, Calif., was fourth overall Saturday.
