Delighted Verstappen wants to change his passport
SILVERSTONE, England (AP) Dutch teenager Max Verstappen joked he's thinking of changing his passport after a warm reception from fans at Sunday's Formula One British Grand Prix.
The 18-year-old Red Bull driver finished third behind Mercedes pair Lewis Hamilton and runner-up Nico Rosberg.
''That was just amazing, they are cheering for a non-British driver,'' Verstappen said after the podium ceremonies. ''I think maybe I need to change my passport.''
Verstappen's rapid progress from rookie to front-runner has made him the most successful Formula One driver in Dutch motor racing history, surpassing the achievements of his father Jos.
After joining from Toro Rosso, Verstappen won on his debut with the Red Bull team at the Spanish Grand Prix in May to become the sport's youngest race winner.
