NHRA Funny Car racer Cruz Pedregon will be racing in support of Breast Cancer Awareness during October.

Pedregon just missed out on making the Countdown to the Championship in Indianapolis, but he’s still racing for wins as he heads into the next three rounds with a special livery supporting The Pink Fund.

The Pink Fund is a non-profit organization that provides short-term financial assistance to cover non-medical living expenses for cancer patients. Pedregon’s sponsor, Snap-on, is making an initial $50,000 donation to the organization. Snap-on will add to that number based on additional donations generated through a sales promotion.

Snap-on will have a tent on the NHRA Midway at all three events during October - at Reading, Dallas, and Las Vegas - where fans can take on a skills challenge, make a dollar donation, and receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes across the weekends, such as helmets signed by Pedregon himself.

With rain washing out a lot of the qualifying action for this weekend’s Dodge NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pennsylvania, Pedregon had the chance to hang out with The Pink Fund’s founder Molly McDonald, who founded the nonprofit organization following her own breast cancer diagnosis.

“One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, and the average breast cancer treatment lasts seven to eight months,” says McDonald. “We provide financial support that helps meet basic needs and remove some of the financial burden to help breast cancer patients focus on healing.”

“Breast cancer is a national health crisis, most common amongst females,” added Yvette Morrison, vice president of marketing and Snap-on Tools Group. “Wrapping the Snap-on Funny Car and having Cruz involved in the NHRA Midway outreach at three races will help raise awareness of how The Pink Fund provides assistance when a breast cancer patient needs help with living expenses. Snap-on is proud to support The Pink Fund.”
