Crunch time to determine final starter in K&N Horsepower Challenge
This weekend is the last chance fans will have to help determine the final driver for next Saturday’s K&N Horsepower Challenge at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where the winner will walk out with $50,000.
That means a possible $100,000 will be on the line at next weekend’s Denso Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals, as $25,000 will be awarded if a driver doubles up and also wins the national event, and $25,000 will be on the table for winning the Pro Stock title at the event.
Seven Pro Stock drivers - Greg Anderson, Erica Enders, Jason Line, Chris McGaha, Drew Skillman, Shane Gray and Allen Johnson - have already earned a spot in the event due to their qualifying results at last Saturday’s Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Nationals in Gainesville, Florida. Enders is the defending winner of the event.
The fan-vote winner - which you can vote for at www.NHRA.com/knhpchallenge.aspx - will make up the eighth and final spot for the Challenge and will go up against No. 1 seed Greg Anderson in the first round. Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. PT Sunday, March 27.
The following drivers are eligible for the fan vote:
- Bo Butner
- Jeg Coughlin Jr.
- Kenny Delco
- V. Gaines
- Joey Grose
- Matt Hartford
- Jeff Isbell
- Deric Kramer
- Alex Laughlin
- Larry Morgan
- Vincent Nobile
- Alan Prusiensky
- Aaron Strong
Fans can also enter the K&N Horsepower Challenge Sweepstakes by visiting http://tiny.cc/NHRAKNChallenge, where eight fans will be selected to win a trip for two to the K&N Horsepower Challenge. The Challenge rounds will take place between NHRA qualifying sessions on Saturday, April 2 at 1, 4 and 5 p.m.
