BOWMANVILLE, Ontario (AP) Austin Cindric, the 16-year-old son of Team Penske president Tim Cindric, has become the youngest winner in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge series.

Cindric combined with co-driver Jade Buford to win on Saturday at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in their Multimatic Ford Shelby Mustang GT350R-C.

Buford started the 2 1/2-hour race on the outside of the front row. Cindric and Buford held off a challenge from brothers Hugh and Matt Plumb.

It has been a busy few weeks for Cindric, who won the Red Bull RallyCross race at Daytona on June 21. He will drive in the ARCA series race at Iowa next week.
