Toronto FC has signed Argentine midfielder Martin Saric to a free-agent contract.

The 30-year-old Saric, a native of Buenos Aires, has spent the majority of his career in Romania but played for Slovenian club NK Celje last season.

Saric will be available for Toronto's season opener Saturday at the Columbus Crew.

Toronto also signed goalkeeper Jon Conway and waived goalie Brian Edwards. Chivas USA placed Conway on waivers earlier this week.

Conway, a 32-year-old entering his 11th MLS season, joined Chivas USA in September 2009 after four seasons with the New York Red Bulls. But Conway made just one appearance with Chivas USA, a 2-0 exhibition loss to Chivas de Guadalajara at the Rose Bowl on Sept. 23.
