Omar Cummings scored twice in the first half and the Colorado Rapids beat the Philadelphia Union 4-1 Wednesday night.
Wells Thompson and Quincy Amarikwa also scored for Colorado, which helped its chances of making the playoffs by moving to fourth overall in the Western Conference with 41 points.
The top two teams in each conference make it, along with the next four highest point totals throughout the league.
Jack McInerney scored in the 90th to ruin Matt Pickens' clean sheet in goal.
