The Columbus Crew scored two second-half goals to earn a 2-2 draw against the New England Revolution on Saturday night.

Pat Phelan scored in the second minute to give the Revolution a lead that was doubled in the 56th minute on Shalrie Joseph's penalty kick.

The Crew dug themselves out of the deficit via an own-goal in the 62nd minute and an 80th-minute penalty kick scored by Guillermo Barros Schelotto.

Although Phelan's score put the Revs on top early, the Crew dominated possession and regularly pressed forward in search of a quick equalizer.

But for all the chances Columbus had, it was New England that scored the next goal when Joseph converted a penalty to give the Revolution a 2-0 lead.

However, the Crew came back. Cory Gibbs played an Emmanuel Ekpo pass in front of the net that leaked through to cut the lead in half. Columbus' comeback was completed when it was awarded a penalty for a Revolution handball inside their own box and Schelotto slid it through to tie the match.
