Sporting KC 1, Montreal Impact 2
Sanna Nyassi and Collen Warner scored early in the second half, and the Montreal Impact rallied for a testy 2-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night.
Claudio Bieler scored on a penalty kick in first-half stoppage time for Sporting KC, prompting protests from Montreal that ultimately got coach Marco Schallibaum dismissed from the game.
He missed watching Nyassi score the equalizer in the 47th minute, and Warner punching the go-ahead goal past Sporting KC goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen in the 53rd minute.
The Impact (8-2-2) had to play a man down when Alessandro Nesta was given a red card later in the half, but they still held on to take over the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
Sporting KC (6-5-4) lost for the first time in four MLS games.
New York Red Bulls 1, Vancouver Whitecaps 2
Kenny Miller scored against his former team in the 83rd minute to give the Vancouver Whitecaps only their second win in nearly three months, a 2-1 victory over the Red Bulls on Saturday night.
New York (7-5-4) had its unbeaten streak snapped at seven games, but remains in first place of the Eastern Conference. Vancouver (4-4-4) jumped into sixth place in the Western Conference with its second win since March 9.
Miller broke up a tight game at Red Bull Arena when he streaked across the goalmouth and headed Russell Tiebert's looping cross from the right side of the penalty area for his third goal of the season. He had found an opening in the defense after defender Jamison Olave was sent off in the 74th minute on a red card for a violent trip on Miller.
Peguuy Luyindula had one last chance to tie it seconds from the end of stoppage time, but Brad Knighton made the save.
Real Salt Lake 3, San Jose Earthquakes 0
Javier Morales scored a goal and assisted another to fuel a first-half outburst that lifted Real Salt Lake to a 3-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night.
Robbie Findley and Ned Grabavoy each chipped in first-half goals for RSL (7-5-3), which beat the Earthquakes (3-6-6) for the second straight time this season and extended their winless streak to four games.
Morales has 12 goals and assists during his MLS career against the Earthquakes. He assumed his familiar role as San Jose's tormentor right away.
Morales broke through in the 16th minute. Robbie Findley set things in motion when he attempted to curl a shot past Busch from the left flank. Busch blocked the shot and the ball bounced out to Morales in the center of the box. He latched on the ball quickly and fired it down the middle to give Salt Lake a 1-0 lead.
Grabavoy made it a two-goal lead in the 33rd minute after smashing home a cross from Morales. Joao Plata faked out San Jose defenders by advancing toward the cross and then letting it go past, allowing Grabavoy to get off a clean shot down the center of the box.
Findley joined in the action, scoring in the 38th minute. He collected a loose ball on the left side of the box and blasted it inside the right post.
San Jose offered little resistance in keeping RSL from running away with the game. The Earthquakes created zero shots before halftime. Salt Lake, on the other hand, had six shots on goal alone and totaled 12 shots going into the locker room.
Colorado Rapids 2, FC Dallas 2
Blas Perez scored his second goal in the 66th minute to lift MLS-leading FC Dallas into a 2-2 tie Saturday night with the Colorado Rapids, who got two goals from Atiba Harris.
Perez had only three goals in his previous 13 games for FC Dallas (8-2-4), which is unbeaten in its last four meetings with the Rapids.
FC Dallas is 7-1-4 in its last 12 games. They have outscored their opponents 21-14 in that stretch and lead the MLS with 29 goals.
The Rapids (5-4-5) extended their unbeaten streak to six games, a stretch that includes three wins.
Colorado is 5-1-3 in its last eight. Goalkeeper Clint Irwin is 5-2-4 with five shutouts since becoming the starter.
Dallas won the first meeting, 1-0 on March 2.
Columbus Crew 1, Houston Dynamo 1
Federico Higuain's penalty kick in the 69th minute rallied the Columbus Crew to a 1-1 tie against the Houston Dynamo on Saturday night.
Making his first start, rookie defender Chad Barson drew a foul by Andrew Driver with a cutback on the right side of the box.
Higuain ended a 294-minute home scoreless drought for the Crew (4-4-5), converting his third penalty in four tries this season. He has four goals.
Houston (6-4-4) took the lead in the 31st minute on Warren Creavalle's third goal of the season.
Creavalle ran into unmarked space as defender Kofi Sarkodie dribbled to the right corner. Sarkodie sent a cross that Creavalle one-timed past goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum for the Dynamo's only shot on goal in the first half.
Toronto FC 1, Philadelphia Union 1
Jack McInerney scored in second-half stoppage time to lift the Philadelphia Union to a 1-1 draw against short-handed Toronto FC on Saturday.
McInerney score on a low shot through traffic after some extended pressure from Philadelphia (5-5-5). He also scored in stoppage time to give the Union a 1-1 draw with Toronto on April 1.
Toronto (1-7-6) was playing with just 10 men after 41 minutes and extended its MLS winless streak to 11 matches.
Rookie midfielder Jonathan Osorio scored in the 66th minute for struggling Toronto.
McInerney came into the game tied for the league lead with nine goals, and also had an MLS-best five game-winning scores.
