DC United 2-2 Philadelphia Union
Carlos Ruiz scored his fifth goal of the season in the 84th minute to help the Philadelphia Union earn a 2-2 draw with D.C. United on Saturday night.
Sebastien Le Toux sent a long ball down the right side to Sheanon Williams, who quickly directed a cross to Ruiz charging down the middle. Ruiz then scored from five yards, giving him goals in consecutive games, as the Union (7-4-6) salvaged a point despite never leading.
United (4-5-7) took the lead when Andy Najar fired a 35-yard strike in the 58th minute. That briefly made up for Perry Kitchen's own goal in the 49th minute, a redirect from the middle of the box off Veljko Paunovic's cross. It proved costly as United's winless streak reached five games.
Dwayne De Rosario assisted on Josh Wolff's goal in the 44th minute in his first game with United since being acquired from the New York Red Bulls on Monday.
San Jose 2-2 New York Red Bulls
Joel Lindpere scored his second goal in the 85th minute and the New York Red Bulls tied the San Jose Earthquakes 2-2 Saturday night.
San Jose went ahead on goals by Khari Stephenson, who equalized in the 37th minute when Red Bulls goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul couldn't handle an inswinging corner, and Steven Lenhart.
The Earthquakes' second goal came in the 68th minute when Lenhart was unmarked and converted Steven Beitashour's long cross from the right wing.
New York went ahead early, when Lindpere initially whiffed on a cross, but had the ball bounce off defender Ramiro Corrales right to his feet, and he converted.
It was San Jose's first game at Stanford in 12 years, and 41,028 attended.
Chivas USA 1-1 Chicago Fire
The Chicago Fire took their unbeaten streak to eight MLS games with a 1-1 draw against Chivas USA on Saturday night.
Chivas USA, which hasn't won in four games, equalized seconds after halftime when Nick LaBrocca fired a shot from 20 yards out that deflected off the cross bar and into the net.
Dominic Oduro put the Fire ahead in the 26th minute when he took a pass from Patrick Nyarko and beat then goalkeeper Dan Kenned.
The Fire haven't lost in 10 matches overall since a 2-1 loss on May 21 against Philadelphia, including a tie and a win in U.S. Open Cup competition.
Portland Timbers 1-2 Kansas City
C.J. Sapong and Aurelien Collin scored first-half goals and Sporting Kansas City extended its unbeaten streak to eight MLS games Saturday night in a 2-1 win over Portland.
It was a predictable result of two teams heading in opposite directions. Kansas City hasn't lost a in eight MLS games and two U.S. Open Cup ones since May 21, while the Timbers are winless in their past six.
Portland's offense was stagnant for the game's first 40 minutes, but perked up just before halftime. The Timbers produced a couple of chances, one resulting in a goal seconds before halftime, when Darlington Nagbe ripped a 20-yard shot past Kansas City goalie Jimmy Nielsen to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Kansas City, which played a road-heavy MLS schedule early in the season, will play 11 of its next 12 matches at home.
FC Dallas 2-0 Columbus Crew
Brek Shea and Jackson Goncalves scored second-half goals to lift FC Dallas to a 2-0 win over the Columbus Crew on Saturday night.
FC Dallas won its third straight game and goalkeeper Kevin Hartman finished with five saves for his second straight shutout and ninth of the season.
In the 58th minute, Shea scored after he rebounded a missed shot by Marvin Chavez and tapped a shot into the center of the net from the top of the goalie's box.
Goncalves scored in the 76th minute after he raced past Columbus' Danny O'Rourke and chipped a shot over goalkeeper William Hesmer's head from just inside the top of the penalty box.
Hartman made a two-handed save in the 68th minute to stop Emmanuel Ekpo's shot from inside 10 yards.
The Crew's Andy Iro was sent off with eight minutes to go for a reckless foul on Chavez.
