The Major League Soccer All-Star game will be played at Red Bull Arena in July.

The league said Tuesday that the game will be held July 27 in Harrison, N.J., and the opponent will be announced later. In recent years, MLS All-Stars have played European clubs making preseason tours to North America.

The New York area was the site of the All-Star game during the first two years of the league. Games were played in 1996 and 1997 at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The $200 million, 25,000-seat stadium Red Bull Arena opened last year.

Red Bulls forward Thierry Henry hopes the opponent is either Barcelona or Arsenal, his two previous clubs. Barcelona last month announced a preseason U.S. tour that includes games against Manchester United at Landover, Md. (July 30), AC Milan in Miami (Aug. 3) and Mexico's America at Arlington, Texas (Aug. 6).

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has opposed holding preseason matches for the Gunners outside Europe.

''If it's Arsenal or Barcelona, it's going to be pretty special if I'm involved,'' Henry said. ''Arsenal and Barcelona, not only I played there, but I think they are the two teams that play the best football right now in the world.''
