Late Shea goal downs Galaxy

Brek Shea scored in the 87th minute to lift FC Dallas to a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday in a game delayed for more than an hour because of lightning.

The game was stopped in the 83rd minute and most of the announced crowd of 21,867 did not return after the intermission and missed seeing Shea fire a volley from the top left corner of the penalty box and into the right corner of the goal.

FC Dallas (3-3-1) snapped a five-game unbeaten streak for the Galaxy (4-2-3).

The Galaxy's Landon Donovan scored his third goal of the year in the 51st minute after he redirected a cross from Juninho into the right corner of the net from just outside the right post.

Fabian Castillo gave FC Dallas a 1-0 lead in the 47th minute with his first career MLS goal.

Andrew Jacobson headed a pass to Castillo, who looped a right-footed shot from 12 yards away into the right corner of the net.

Los Angeles coach Bruce Arena decided to start midfielder David Beckham after Beckham left the team to go London for the Royal Wedding on Friday.

Beckham had been criticized for leaving the team to attend the ceremony on Friday and arrived ahead of the rest of the club on Saturday in Dallas.

FC Dallas played its first game since 2010 MLS MVP David Ferreira suffered a broken right ankle against Vancouver on April 23rd. Ferreira will miss three months with the injury.
