Dynamo 2, Whitecaps FC 1
Warren Creavalle and Giles Barnes scored 6 minutes apart in the second half to help the Houston Dynamo beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 on Saturday night.
After Barnes beat goalkeeper Joe Cannon with a header in the 56th minute, Creavalle found a loose ball in the box and kicked it past Cannon in the 62nd minute for the Dynamo (2-1)
The win helped the Dynamo extend their home unbeaten streak to 27 games, dating to July 2011. Houston has never lost at its new home, BBVA Compass Stadium
Ricardo Clark set up Barnes' tying goal with a pass into the box. Barnes moved ahead of his defender and headed a shot just inside the left post for his first MLS goal.
On the winner, Adam Moffett's shot from outside the area was stopped by Cannon, but he couldn't hold on. The ball fell in front of Creavalle, who scored his first goal of the season and the sixth of his career.
Darren Mattocks scored in the 36th minute for the Whitecaps (2-1), who missed being the first visiting MLS team to win in Houston since Columbus on June 18, 2011. Vancouver's best chance to tie came in the 82nd minute when Daigo Kobayashi hit the cross bar on a free kick.
Cannon made two saves for Vancouver, and Tally Hall stopped four shots for Houston, which lost at Dallas last week on a goal in the 90th minute.
