D.C. United has signed Andy Najar, a 17-year-old midfielder and forward from Honduras.

Najar, who had been with D.C. United's academy, has a green card and will count as a domestic player on the team's roster.

He had played in five preseason exhibition games after spending scoring four goals last year on D.C. United's Under-16 team and nine goals as a forward on its Under-18 team. He scored 22 goals last year at Edison High School in Alexandria, Va.

D.C. United also waived 23-year-old midfielder John DiRaimondo, who appeared in one league and eight overall matches last year.
