Jeff Cunningham matched former D.C. United star Jaime Moreno's Major Soccer League goal record of 133, scoring in the 90th minute to give the Columbus Crew a 1-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday night.

The 34-year-old Cunningham, who came on as a second-half substitute, headed his landmark goal past goalkeeper Joe Cannon after Columbus was awarded a late corner.

The Whitecaps were also playing a man down after Shea Salinas was ejected with 12 minutes left.

''I thought the game was a bit open but after the red card, we got control of the match from that point on, and I was happy to come on and get the game winner,'' said Cunningham, from Jamaica.

Columbus (7-5-6) ended a two-game losing streak.

The Whitecaps dropped to 2-9-8 with their second straight loss and to 1-4-2 under coach Tom Soehn, who replaced the fired Teitur Thordarson in late May.

''We have to reward ourselves,'' Soehn said. ''Those are opportunities that you have to take advantage of. Obviously, we didn't.''
