Chicago Fire 2-0 Houston Dynamo
Midfielders Baggio Husidic and Peter Lowry scored goals and Andrew Dykstra stopped six shots for second shutout of the season in the Chicago Fire's 2-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo on Saturday night.
Chicago (2-2-1) won its second straight game, while Houston (2-2-1) was shut out for the second time in three matches.
Husidic opened the scoring with a minute left in the first half, heading a rebound past goalkeeper Pat Onstad for his first goal in MLS play. Onstad had stopped defender Tim Ward's 15-yard shot.
Lowry made it 2-0 in the 67th minute, directing midfielder Patrick Nyarko's pass into the net off his chest and past the diving Onstad.
Houston's best opportunity came in the 56th minute. Dykstra turned back shots by Andrew Hainault and forward Dominic Oduro, both from within 15 feet, 10 seconds apart.
Two players were ejected in the final 10 minutes. Houston's Danny Cruz was ejected for a second yellow-card caution. Chicago defender Krzystof Krol was ejected 3 minutes later for head-butting the Luis Landin after Landin shoved him.
