Backe announces team to face Man United
Landon Donovan, David Beckham and Thierry Henry will lead the MLS roster that will play Manchester United in the league's All-Star game.
New York Red Bulls coach Hans Backe selected the 22 players for the July 27 game at Red Bull Arena. He picked all eight of the players chosen by fans who were available for the game. The picks were announced Monday.
Former USA goalkeeper Kasey Keller and Dallas FC midfielder Brek Shea have CONCACAF Champions League games that week, while Mexico star Rafa Marquez (Red Bulls) and Omar Gonzalez (Galaxy) are injured.
Among the first-time All-Stars will be Mexico's Omar Bravo from Sporting KC, United States defender Heath Pearce of Chivas USA, and Colombian goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon of the Philadelphia Union.
