Cincinnati Reds shortstop Zack Cozart had a bit of a scare Sunday when a ground ball bounced off his right index finger, causing him to bleed.

“I've been hit in this finger a lot over the years," Cozart told Reds.com. “I didn't even think anything of it. I was just like, 'I can't believe I made an error,' and then I looked down and picked the ball up and blood's everywhere. It kind of shocked me.'

The Reds gave Cozart an X-ray on the finger, but it turned up negative.

The injury may have a bit of a lingering effect for Cozart, but the Reds have an off day Monday, providing Cozart with a little bit of extra time to rest.
