DENVER (AP) New York Mets leadoff hitter Eric Young Jr. was scratched from the starting lineup Sunday against the Colorado Rockies after being hit below the right eye during pregame batting practice.

Young was taken to a hospital to be checked out. According to the Mets, Young was struck when a ball bounced off the screen.

The Mets juggled their lineup, with Juan Lagares batting leadoff and playing center field. Chris Young, who had been slated to play center, moved over to left.

Eric Young Jr.'s father is the first base coach for the Rockies.
