Yanks' Kuroda leaves with bruised calf

Published May. 22, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

New York Yankees pitcher Hiroki Kuroda left Wednesday night's game against the Baltimore Orioles with a bruised right calf.

Kuroda gave up a third-inning single to Chris Davis before grimacing near the mound in pain. After a conference that involved a trainer and Yankees manager Joe Girardi, Kuroda walked off the field.

On inning earlier, the right-hander was struck in the leg by a line drive off the bat of Manny Machado. Kuroda stayed in the game, but he ultimately left with what Yankees officials said was a bruised calf.

Kuroda pitched two-plus innings before leaving. He gave up five runs and eight hits, including two homers.
