Yankees' Thames on DL; Huffman to make MLB debut

The Yankees have placed outfielder Marcus Thames on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right hamstring and recalled outfielder Chad Huffman from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Huffman is in the Yankees' lineup Sunday and is making his major league debut against the Houston Astros.

Thames was injured in Saturday's win over Houston. He was replaced in the field by Brett Gardner, who missed the previous two games because of a sore left thumb.

Thames said the injury was mild and that he should be ready to play as soon as he is eligible to come off the DL.

Jorge Posada was set to make his first start at catcher since coming off the DL on June 2, but third baseman Alex Rodriguez was out for a third straight game because of a sore hip.
