Nick Swisher sat out of the New York Yankees' lineup on Friday night with pain in his left elbow.

Swisher had an MRI exam during the AL-leading Yankees' 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. The Yankees will get the exam results Saturday.

Swisher said he felt pain in his throwing arm during Thursday's loss at Baltimore. The right fielder is batting .262 with 22 homers and 80 RBIs.

Andruw Jones replaced Swisher in right field, going 0 for 2 with a walk against Angels ace Jered Weaver.

Manager Joe Girardi also pulled catcher Francisco Cervelli from the Yankees' lineup a couple of hours before game time. Cervelli felt a bit dizzy Thursday after blocking the plate in a collision with Baltimore's Nick Markakis, but stayed in the extra-inning game.

Cervelli has had several concussions during his career. Russell Martin replaced him, going 0 for 2 with a walk while catching Bartolo Colon's outstanding seven-inning performance.
