Yankees at Tigers postponed by rain

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 5:38 p.m. ET

DETROIT (AP) The Detroit Tigers' game against the New York Yankees on Sunday night has been postponed because of rain.

With light rain falling and no end in sight, the game was called off several hours before the scheduled first pitch.

Justin Verlander had been scheduled to make his second start of the season for the Tigers, while the Yankees planned to send Masahiro Tanaka to the mound.

A makeup date was not immediately announced. The teams aren't scheduled to meet again in Detroit this season.
