White Sox place Bonifacio on disabled list, recall Garcia

BOSTON (AP) The Chicago White Sox have placed infielder Emilio Bonifacio on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday because of a strained left oblique a night earlier.

The club recalled infielder Leury Garcia from Triple-A Charlotte for their game Wednesday night against the Boston Red Sox.

Bonifacio was injured on a groundout to third Tuesday night in a 9-4 victory over the Red Sox. He had to be helped off the field.

The 24-year-old Garcia hit .296 with 24 RBIs in 75 games for Charlotte.
