White Sox may make more moves

Kenny Williams wasn’t kidding.

The reshaping of the Chicago White Sox has begun.

The White Sox on Wednesday morning agreed to a deal that sent starting pitcher Edwin Jackson and infielder Mark Teahen to the Toronto Blue Jays for reliever Jason Frasor and right-handed pitching prospect Zach Stewart, major-league sources first told FOXSports.com.

The White Sox formally announced the deal on Wednesday.

The deal evolved into a three-team trade, with Toronto acquiring center fielder Colby Rasmus and three other players from St. Louis for a package that includes Jackson, relievers Octavio Dotel and Marc Rzepczynski, outfielder Corey Patterson and three players to be named or cash considerations.

The Jays and Cardinals announced the multiplayer deal Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Williams, the White Sox general manager, isn’t done yet.

One source said Williams is also willing to move starters Gavin Floyd and John Danks – two names who haven’t been widely cited in media reports as being available leading up to Sunday’s non-waiver trade deadline.

Discussions between the White Sox and Blue Jays initially included even more players than those involved in the trade, one source said. Jackson will become a free agent after the season, and it’s believed that White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf was the driving force behind the decision to shed as much of Jackson’s $8.35 million salary as possible.

The shakeup comes at a time when the White Sox are stuck under .500 but still contending in the American League Central. But one important factor is that their attendance (and hence revenues) have fallen short of targets, thus the desire to save money by dealing veterans.
