WATCH: Rookie Russell shows why he's the man at SS with sweet DP

Addison Russell showed again why Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon had no choice but to make the rookie the club's starting shortstop at the expense of Starlin Castro.

In the bottom of the third inning Wednesday night, Russell made an incredible play, snagging a hard-hit grounder with a backhand stab from his knees, then making a terrific turn and throw to Castro at second base to start the double play.

It's unclear what the future holds for Castro, who did get another start at second base, but it's clear that Russell is entrenched at shortstop. And for good reason.
