Twins Plouffe to miss game against Indians

Published May. 9, 2015 3:51 p.m. ET

CLEVELAND (AP) Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe will miss Saturday's game against the Indians because of a family matter.

Twins manager Paul Molitor says Plouffe has flown to Texas, but he's expected to rejoin the team for the finale of the three-game series on Sunday.

Plouffe is batting .269 with five homers, which leads the team, and 17 RBIs in 29 games. He's hitting .316 since April 17 and has hit in 17 of his last 20 games.

Eduardo Escobar will start at third base.
